About Sofia
The inadvertent expat blogger behind Harbor Crest Stone

Hey, I'm Sofia
I work as a project manager and am a parent, an expat living in Madrid, Spain.
Several years back I moved here with my family, and what began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter living overseas.
How It Started
Moving to Spain wasn't in our long-range plan. As with many international moves, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar processes, routines, and expectations. Daily tasks seemed more confusing than they ought to be.
The Adjustment Period
Culture shock, doubt, and plenty of hands-on learning were part of it. Yet, over time routines emerged. We found spots that suited us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt secure.
Why I Built Harbor Crest Stone
Much of online guidance hovered at corporate relocation tips or shallow tourism content. What was lacking was a candid, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to fill that gap — practical advice drawn from real-life experiences in Spain.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site IS:
- Hands-on experience from living in Spain
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever there is a meaningful change
This site ISN'T:
- Not a tourism-authority resource
- A platform for sponsored reviews
- A typical travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in Spain continues, as does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep recording what we uncover.
If you have questions about family life in Madrid or anywhere in Spain, please feel free to get in touch.
Best regards,
Sofia
